Thursday Night Football Betting Preview: Steelers vs. Vikings Loser Likely Out Of NFL Playoffs

NFL betting for Thursday Night Football Odds Vikings Steelers 2021
  • Thursday Night Football Begins At 8:20 PM Tonight On FOX Or The NFL Network
  • The Minnesota Vikings Are Favored By 3 Over The Pittsburgh Steelers
  • The Losing Team Can Consider Themselves Out Of The NFL Playoffs

Pennsylvania area NFL fans that bet on the Pittsburgh Steelers to cover against the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday were rewarded handsomely as the underdogs from western PA came through and kept their slim postseason hopes alive.

The Minnesota Vikings have been up and down all season. They followed up victories over the Los Angeles Chargers and the Green Bay Packers with losses to the San Francisco 49ers and the winless Detroit Lions.

The Steelers are in the eighth overall spot in the AFC and can remain in the playoff hunt with a win tonight on the road at Minnesota. The road doesn’t get any easier for Pittsburgh, as their remaining schedule wraps up with the Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Browns, and one more round with the Baltimore Ravens.

NFL Playoff betting sites are not projecting a postseason berth for the Steelers as they’ve got them rated as the 11th overall team in the AFC futures odds, however, significant profits can be earned by getting ahead of the game and laying some action on their +1500 moneyline to win their division.

The Vikings have a tough path to pave over the next few weeks if they hope to keep pace with the middle of the pack in the NFC which consists of a large herd that are competing for the same three wild card spots.

Minnesota will face the Chicago Bears twice, and will also play the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers. The Vikings should be able to easily go .500 over that stretch, which makes a win tonight against the Steelers all the more important.

The Vikings are rated ninth in the current NFC futures, but someone has to win tonight’s game. That victory has the potential to set the winner on a track for a wild card berth, and NFL betting sites are suggesting that Minnesota will best the Steelers by a field goal.

TNF Odds: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Minnesota Vikings

  • Steelers Point Spread: +3.0
  • Steelers Moneyline: +150
  • Vikings Point Spread: -3.0
  • Vikings Moneyline: -170
  • Over/Under: 44.0

Unlike the Vikings, Pittsburgh is very much in play for the AFC North Division title as they are 1.5 games back of the Baltimore Ravens who they just beat on Sunday.

Will the Steelers team that took down the Ravens show up tonight, or will it be the squad that got rolled by the Cleveland Browns? The same can be said for the Vikings – will it be the Minnesota team that beat the Packers or lost to the Lions?

Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger stated earlier this week that this season is likely his last in the NFL as an active player. Does Big Ben have one last run left in him? It had better start tonight because another loss and the Steelers can go ahead and start planning for Ben’s replacement in next April’s NFL Draft.
