The Ultimate Fighting Championship is the largest mixed martial arts promotion in the world and has been in existence since 1993. Although the company has experienced a rocky history, it has come out swinging and is now arguably the top fighting organization on the planet, drawing even more global interest than the sport of boxing, and quickly carving out a distinct presence for legal UFC betting action with the US sports gambling market.

With routine pay-per-views and televised events, the UFC gives bettors plenty of opportunities to get in on the action. Our guide will discuss the legalities of wagering on the UFC online and will direct you toward the best sports betting sites covering all the action. UFC gambling has expanded to include options for betting on UFC 4 simulation fights as well.

Is UFC Betting Legal?

Yes - it is legal to bet on UFC fights and UFC - Fight Night odds through state-regulated sportsbooks as well as legitimate online sportsbooks operating legally outside of the US, such as the ones listed on this page. You will not find any federal laws prohibiting the use of these online betting sites, and only two states have included restrictions relevant to online betting.

There are a handful of domestic sportsbooks located across the United States that offer betting odds for each UFC fight card that is held. Some US states have enacted laws that regulate online gambling for their sportsbook facilities, and UFC betting lines are often provided to people located in those regions.

Note: Washington has passed laws that prohibit all forms of online gambling. We’ve yet to see any record of an arrest being made or any fines handed out in WA for online betting, but it is best to know all the rules before jumping into the octagon of wagering on the web.

What Is The UFC?

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is a head-to-head (or elbow-to-face) combat sport that pits two fighters against each other inside of a caged ring called the octagon. There are no ropes that surround the ring-like traditional fighting sports. The cage is there merely to contain the competition, as the focus is placed on who the better fighter is.

When the promotion first began on pay-per-view back in 1993, there were very few rules in place, which allowed for extremely violent competition. The league had bad publicity early on due to the bloody nature of the sport and took a while to gain credibility with a mainstream audience. Over the years, the UFC has adopted many new rules that allow for less grappling on the ground and more striking and display of martial arts skill.

Each fighter wears gloves that weigh between four and six ounces. Male fighters wear groin protectors while female competitors adorn chest pads. Fights are now broken up into rounds instead of one long battle.

The UFC also has many weight divisions now, something that was not a feature of early competitions that saw some small fighters take out massive opponents. Winners can be declared by knockout, technical knockout, referee’s decision, submission, disqualification, or judge’s decision.

How To Legally Bet On UFC Fights

Those that are familiar with boxing betting odds, betting on Bellator, or betting on Power Slap will be familiar with how to bet on a UFC fight. So how do betting odds work In the UFC? Each matchup consists of two combatants, with a host of odds offered on each. Bettors can simply select the fighter they think will win, and if they are correct, then a payout will be earned based on the odds placed on their fighter’s chances.

Other opportunities for legal wagering include UFC prop bets, such as what round the fight will finish in, how the fight will end, and even post-fight occurrences detailing whether a particular phrase will be mentioned in the closing interviews. Live betting odds are updated throughout the bout that provides for continuous wagering action until the fight ends.
