What Is The Traitors?
Based on a Dutch television show called De Verraders, the US version of The Traitors has become a massive hit in a very short time. Hosted by Alan Cumming, between 20 and 22 celebrities and reality television stars are whisked away to an Irish castle to compete for a large cash prize.
All members of the cast are granted the assumption of being “faithful,” but some players are assigned the role of traitor in secret. Each episode, a cast member is “murdered” via an eviction vote. Before the eliminated castmate departs, they reveal whether they were a member of the faithful or a traitor.
Once only four contestants remain, a final meeting is held to vote out additional players. If the final four agree that all remaining are faithful, they can choose to end the game. If all players are faithful, they’ll split the grand prize evenly. If there are traitors in the mix, the bad guys get to steal the grand prize and divide it among themselves.
