In our never-ending quest to make you a millionaire, we’re always coming across new, convenient ways to buy cryptocurrencies quickly, safely, and legally.
Naturally, if you then use that crypto to bet sports online at any of the world’s best sports betting sites, you can see incredible gains on your initial investment more or less immediately.
Unless you bet on the Dolphins. Never bet on the Dolphins.
But even if you’re not interested in betting, if you just want a fast way to get started with crypto in general – for investing, trading, or just being part of a trend that could help you retire by 40 – the biggest bottleneck is always the initial buy-in.
Most commercial exchanges employ lengthy identity verification processes and aren’t always set up in the most intuitive manner.
And for online sports bettors in particular, these exchanges lock new crypto buys and force their members to wait 5-10 days before they can even send their coins to an off-platform wallet (such as those used by the reputable betting sites we recommend).
This, in turn, turns a lot of potential hodlers off before they can even join the party, and it similarly encourages online sports gamblers to fall back on less valuable and less reliable betting banking methods like credit cards, debit cards, cashier’s checks, bank wires, and so on.
We’ve covered plenty of workarounds in the past, of course.
You can use Coinify to buy crypto and send it to your sports betting site more or less instantly, and you can use the Zelle-To-Bitcoin process to buy BTC from private parties at the LocalBitcoins exchange. You can even use Cash App to buy Bitcoin and send it to any BTC address you want in just a few minutes.
But these methods are all ultimately limited or require added steps.
In the case of Coinify, you’ll need to set up a crypto wallet to receive your coins, and Coinify only supports residents in about two-thirds of all US states. You also can’t buy many popular cryptocurrencies like Cardano (ADA) or Ripple (XRP) on Coinify, which are two extremely efficient and widely used bet funding options at several top online sportsbooks.
Meanwhile, Zelle only allows for Bitcoin buys and requires a bit of coordination between buyers and sellers at LocalBitcoins.
Like Zelle, Cash App, though extremely convenient, only supports Bitcoin, so if you want to invest in or deposit with another sports betting crypto, you can’t go that route, either.
But one solution for US gamblers is starting to generate more interest, and it’s perhaps the easiest way to get started with crypto of all the options we’ve seen to date: Atomic Wallet.
First things first, as its name implies, Atomic Wallet requires you to set up a private crypto wallet right at the outset, which is always recommended for safe crypto storage and is the preferred option when receiving crypto payouts.
Setup is fast and easy, as you can download Atomic Wallet for iPhone or Atomic Wallet for Android right from the App Store or Google Play store in just seconds. After that, activating your account takes only 2-3 minutes.
So now you have a private crypto wallet all set up and ready to go!
When going through the typical exchanges, setting up your private wallet is a significant off-platform added step. That is, you need to set up your crypto exchange account, and then you need to get a wallet and set that up, too.
Here, it’s all just a part of the basic process.
Once that’s done, Atomic now offers members the option to not only store cryptos but buy and trade them, too!
So for new users and crypto first-timers, here’s the deal:
- Download Atomic Wallet for your platform of choice.
- Create your account and copy down your unique 12-word Atomic recovery pass phrase. This is different than your regular Atomic Wallet access password (i.e. your Atomic login password). Your recovery phrase is what you’ll need if you ever lose your phone or want to install Atomic to a different device. Do not lose this pass phrase!
- In the Atomic menu, select the “Buy” option. Here’s where the rubber meets the road.
- Enter in your Visa card number or Mastercard number (Atomic does not yet support American Express, Discover, or other card brands).
- Enter in the amount of money you’d like to spend.
- Select the crypto asset you want to buy from the drop-down menu.
- Submit your purchase.
Atomic uses the EU-licensed credit-card processor Simplex to verify all crypto trades, and Simplex requires basic account verification for all Atomic users.
However, this process takes just a few minutes in most cases, requiring only a valid photo ID.
Once you’re verified, your buy will go through automatically, and your crypto will show up in your Atomic Wallet according to the asset’s standard blockchain transaction times.
Atomic does charge a 5% fee on crypto purchases made this way, which is something to consider. However, this is the only real negative aspect of the service.
Another caveat is this: While Atomic Wallet lets users manage (i.e. safely store and trade) over 300 different cryptocurrencies, it does not allow users to buy all those cryptos right through the app.
These are the cryptocurrencies you can currently buy directly through your Atomic Wallet account, with those accepted by the best online sportsbooks in bold.

*Ripple has been delisted from most USA-based commercial exchanges, making Atomic Wallet one of the only ways for US residents to easily buy the XRP crypto coin. As such, Atomic makes Ripple sports betting much more viable.
Finally, there’s one additional benefit to using Atomic Wallet to buy crypto:
You earn free Atomic Wallet Coin (AWC) with every purchase!
Atomic Wallet Coin launched in January 2019 at a price of $0.0519. Today, the AWC coin is worth $1.4918 per, which represents a 2774.37% increase.
And, naturally, you can always exchange your free AWC for any other supported cryptocurrency right through your Atomic Wallet app.
