Betting On Friday The 13th To Announce A Sequel In 2025

The date is Friday, June 13th, 2025. There has not been an entry into the Friday the 13th film franchise since February 13, 2009, when Platinum Dunes’ remake was a nationwide hit. The film raked in $91,509,154 worldwide.

Opinions were mixed on the twelfth entry’s content, but one thing was for certain: the series was alive and well, and it would only be a matter of time before a thirteenth film would be coming down the pipeline.

In the sixteen years and four months that have passed, the franchise has been stagnant save for a moderately successful video game and plenty of merchandise for fans to line their shelves and closets with.

What hasn’t come is another movie, primarily due to a legal dispute between the first film’s director, Sean Cunningham, and writer, Victor Miller. However, those matters are now settled, yet still, no movie.

Entertainment sportsbook sites have odds posted asking which film series will announce a sequel in 2025, with no sign of another entry in the Jason Voorhees saga present.

There are also numerous entertainment prop bets projecting the box office totals for upcoming movies, but you won’t find a Friday the 13th film listed among the options.

While the film franchise appears to be on hold, it is for a good reason. A new television series, Crystal Lake, is being developed for Peacock and is likely occupying all the oxygen in the Friday camp.

The series takes place before the events of the first film, set during the time of Jason’s drowning. The story will center around Pamela Voorhees and her struggles in the interim years.

Linda Cardellini has been officially cast in the role of Pamela, indicating that production is proceeding. Peacock is hopeful for a release date during October of this year.

While there is likely plenty of meat on the bone for a sequel series from a narrative perspective, fans are still itching for another film entry featuring their favorite machete-wielding maniac.

Unfortunately, news on that front is as dead as a Jason Voorhees victim, but there is reason for hope, as 2015’s Ash vs. Evil Dead series ran for three seasons, resulting in the production of Evil Dead Rise in 2023.

What’s for sure is that Jason Voorhees is always out there, watching, ready to retake his wilderness at any moment. We’re in the middle of the longest gap between films in franchise history, so expect Jason to return to the big screen sooner rather than later.
