WrestleMania 39 begins a week from Saturday, setting off a 2-night event that will be seen by millions of wrestling fans across the planet. It is the longest-running professional wrestling pay-per-view (now called Premium Live Events by WWE because they can be seen with a subscription to the WWE Network on Peacock) and is where storylines and grudges are often settled for good.
The main event of night 2 of WrestleMania will be a match between the Unidespitaed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and challenger Cody Rhodes, who has never won a heavyweight championship from a major wrestling promotion.
The storyline has been laid out to suggest that Cody’s destiny is to win the WWE strap. His father, Dusty Rhodes, was never able to get over on then-champion “Superstar” Billy Graham in Madison Square Gardens back in 1977.
Over 45 years later, online pro wrestling betting sites feature Cody as an overwhelming favorite to beat Reigns and elevate the Rhodes legacy to where it belongs.
BetOnline has posted the following WrestleMania betting line for Rhodes vs. Reigns.
Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match Winner – Wrestlemania
- Cody Rhodes -550
- Roman Reigns +325
The above odds of Cody Rhodes winning the main event of night 2 of WrestleMania 39 suggest that he has an 85% chance of success. Bets of $5.50 will be required to net a dollar on a Cody Rhodes victory.
Alternatively, Reigns will payout at $4.25 on bets of $1. His +325 moneyline imples a 25% chance of winning.
BetUS had WrestleMania odds on the boards earlier this week, but they’ve been removed as of this writing. Here is their line on Reigns vs. Rhodes that is now off the boards.
Undisputed Universal Championship Betting Line
- Cody Rhodes -165
- Roman Reigns +125
The above entertainment prop bet features much more competitive odds where Reigns is granted a considerably higher chance of winning. We believe BetUS is simply adjusting the betting odds to favor Cody more heavily, and gamblers should expect to see them return sometime this weekend.
Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte will headline night 1 of WrestleMania XXXIX with the Smackdown Women’s Championship on the line. Here are the WWE odds posted for this match over at BetOnline AG.
WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship Match Winner – Wrestlemania
- Rhea Ripley -1000
- Charlotte Flair (c) +500
A Ripley win is as close to a sure thing as you can get in the pro wrestling betting industry. Her implied likelihood of winning based on her -1000 moneyline is 91%.
Again, those odds feature a much wider gap than the line that was posted at BetUS.com.pa just a few days ago.
Smackdown Women’s Championship Odds
- Rhea Ripley -350
- Charlotte Flair +250
The odds differentials at entertainment betting sites illustrate two very important points.
The first is timing. When you place your WWE bet matters, as it can impact your gambling bankroll. We’re not saying to always bet early, but in this case, laying some action a couple days ago on either projected main event WrestleMania winner would have required over 50% less risk.
The second point is the necessity to join more than one wrestling sportsbook to ensure you’re giving yourself the best deal. If your membership is limited to one book, it will also be limited to the odds they produce.
