It seems that every time we check the banking options at our favorite online sportsbooks, a new cryptocurrency or two has been added to the roster. In recent months, two new methods of depositing and withdrawing with altcoins have been introduced – Bitcoin Lightning and TRUMP Meme.
Are these altcoins worthwhile? Today, we have a look at what these cryptocurrency banking options are and whether gamblers should consider using them.
What Is $TRUMP?
Trump MEME ($TRUMP) is a cryptocurrency token inspired by President Donald Trump and is part of a growing trend of meme coins. These are tokens created around public figures or internet culture rather than technical utility. $TRUMP was launched on the Solana platform in January 2025 and is marketed to politically engaged or meme-investing communities.
While these tokens are often created purely for hype, satire, or quick profit, $TRUMP appears to have the makings of a crypto coin that will last. The reason? Its acceptance at online sports betting sites.
$TRUMP is currently accepted at BetOnline and SportsBettingAG for both deposits and payouts. The minimum deposit requirement is $20, with the maximum allowable upload set to $1,000,000. There are also no fees attached to $TRUMP deposits or payouts.
What Is Bitcoin Lightning?
Bitcoin Lightning is a second-layer protocol built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain, designed to enable fast transactions that bypass progressively slow processing speeds. Technically, these are Bitcoin transactions that are occurring on the Lightning Network.
Anyone who possesses BTC can send it back and forth on the Lightning Network.
BTC traders can transact off-chain through the Lightning Network without immediately involving the main blockchain. To use the Lightning Network, two users open a payment channel by creating a multi-signature Bitcoin address and locking funds into it. Once the channel is open, they can send transactions between each other instantly.
Only the opening and closing transactions are recorded on the blockchain. This makes it ideal for small or frequent payments, like depositing and withdrawing at sports betting sites.
At the moment, Bovada LV and BetUS include Bitcoin Lightning deposits and payouts in their banking suite. Bovada allows a minimum deposit of 0.0002 BCL and a maximum deposit of $5,000. BCL payouts of up to $5,000 per day can be requested at Bovada.
