The ranks of professional eating were recently shifted when Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs disqualified Joey Chestnut from this year’s event because of an endorsement deal he signed with Impossible Foods.
The conflict was caused by Impossible Foods’ creation of plant-based hot dogs, which made it a direct competitor to Nathans.
The odds for betting on Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest are posted and taking action now, as the 2024 competition is set to begin in seven days. However, a new set of odds has popped up regarding a head-to-head battle between two former champions that have caught our attention.
Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef
Takeru Kobayashi is a former champion, winning the competition from 2001 to 2006. Since 2010, Kobayashi has been banned by Nathan’s. The beef started with his refusal to sign an exclusive deal and was later exacerbated by on-stage antics that resulted in his arrest.
The world’s two best male eaters are now free agents, and with such a large gap in the market to fill, it was only a matter of time before an outside party took advantage. Enter Netflix.
This Labor Day (September 2, 2024), subscribers will be privy to an eating matchup for the ages when Joey Chestnut pulls up to the table alongside Takeru Kobayashi to go one-on-one.
There are numerous entertainment prop bets allowing players to lay some action on various outcomes. No location for the event has been announced, but the following prop suggests it will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Location Of Chestnut vs. Kobayashi On Netflix?
Las Vegas -150
California +450
Coney Island +1000

Who Will Win?
Kobayashi vs. Chestnut Betting Line
Joey Chestnut -700
Takeru Kobayashi +400
Online entertainment gambling outlets are projecting an easy win for Chestnut. Joey has bested Kobayashi before but recently lost to him in other types of eating competitions.
This will be a hot dog eating contest, however, which gives Chestnut the edge. Obviously, with both names in the title of the event, they’re each in line for a payday, no matter what the outcome is. But is there anything at stake other than honor?
How Much Money Will The Winner Get?
Over $99,999.50 USD -300
Under $99,999.50 USD +200
We’re unsure if the above over/under is a typo, but that total seems a bit low considering the setting and venue. The odds favor a grand prize north of $100K, but keep in mind that Nathan’s awards $10,000 for their top annual eater.
