On November 4, 2025, citizens of New York City will head to the ballot box to vote on who will be their mayor for the next four years. This election is expected to be hotly contested following the legal troubles faced by incumbent Eric Adams (R) between September 2024 and April of this year.
Adam is running again as an Independent, and the official Democratic and Republican candidates will be chosen during the primaries on June 24th.
Several online political sportsbooks have created betting odds that project who will win the 2025 New York mayoral election. The leading candidate in the latest batch of election odds is a member of the Democratic Party who shamefully resigned from the office of New York Governor in August 2021.

No, that is not a misprint. Former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo is holding a massive lead in the moneyline odds to become the next mayor. Cuomo is listed as a certain winner, 650 points ahead of the nearest candidate, Zohran Mamdani, also a Democrat.
Cuomo’s 2021 resignation was due to sexual harassment allegations he was facing. While he did acknowledge that his resignation was because of the allegations, he admitted no wrongdoing and has not been convicted of a crime in a court of law.
That standing appears to be good enough for New Yorkers with just under five months remaining until votes are cast.

Governor Cuomo has also gained ground nationally, according to the latest odds to become the Democratic Party’s Presidential Nominee for 2028. The former Governor is ranked near the bottom of all current potentials, but his mere appearance is an indicator that a solid performance as the next NYC mayor could propel him back into presidential relevance.
California Governor Gavin Newsom appears to have a stronghold on the DNC’s nomination, but with nearly three years remaining on the clock, anything can happen between now and then.
