NFC Championship Game Betting: 49ers Are Favored By A Touchdown Over Lions

The Detroit Lions and the San Franciso 49ers have advanced to the NFC Championship Game after hard-fought battles during last weekend’s Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. this Sunday in Santa Clara, California. The 49ers have a home record of 6-3 at Levi’s Stadium, but the Lions are 7-3 on the road this year.

Despite Detroit’s improbably run at Super Bowl LVIII, NFL Playoff betting sites are projecting that the Lions will lose by a touchdown or more versus the 49ers this weekend.

NFC Championship Game Betting Lines

Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers

  • Lions Point Spread: +7.0 across the board
  • Lions Moneyline Odds To Win: +265 at Bovada and BetOnline, +260 at BetUS, +240 at MyBookie
  • 49ers Point Spread: -7.0 across the board
  • 49ers Moneyline Odds To Win: -330 at Bovada, -315 at BetOnline and BetUS, -300 at MyBookie
  • NFC Championship Game Over/Under: 51.0 across the board

There isn’t much room to shop the NFL odds for the best sportsbook payouts for Sunday’s game, but the moneylines offer some variance that can be exploited. For instance, the best-paying odds for the Lions to win are set at +265 and are offered at Bovada and BetOnline.

If you plan on betting on the 49ers, the best odds of San Francisco winning are posted at MyBookie (-300). Our other top sportsbook sites require bets of up to $0.30 higher just to earn the same dollar that you’d win at MyBookie.

Based on the NFL prop bets being offered for Sunday’s NFC Championship, we can make the following assumptions about the production of key players for both teams.

  • Brock Purdy Stats (SF): 21 completions, 30 attempts, 275 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
  • Jared Goff Stats (DET): 24 completions, 37 attempts, 264 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interceptions
  • Amon-Ra St. Brown (DET): 7 receptions, 82 yards
  • George Kittle (SF): 4 receptions, 60 yards, 1 touchdown
  • Christian McCaffrey (SF): 86 yards rushing, 5 receptions, 38 yards, 1 touchdown
  • Brandon Aiyuk (SF): 5 receptions, 82 yards, 1 touchdown
  • Sam LaPorta (DET): 5 receptions, 47 yards

The NFC Championship props suggest that the touchdowns will be distributed evenly around the 49ers offense, but the Lions’ production will be more limited. The key difference will be the San Francisco defensive unit, which leads the league in interceptions this season.

However, the 49ers did have a hard time beating Green Bay last weekend, but many of their struggles were due to the cold and rainy weather. No rain is forecast for Sunday, with mild temperatures topping out at 72 degrees.
