With 57 Super Bowls completed, some staggering all-time records have been set. Inevitably, the best team in professional football will consistently be a part of the Super Bowl, so there’s always the potential for new marks to be set from a statistical standpoint.
Offensive production is largely measured in scoring touchdowns. Outside of TDs, how players make it down the field and into the endzone is the next consideration. These stats are measured in passing, rushing, and receiving yards.
As such, these four categories are the most coveted of Super Bowl records – which become five categories when separating passing from rushing/receiving touchdowns.
These stats have been broken down into Super Bowl prop bets where gamblers can place a simple wager on which record will be broken during SB LVIII. The following SB prop is posted at BetOnline and has gathered all notable single-game records into one line.
Super Bowl Props For Record Breakers
- Any Player to Score 4+ TDs +1000
- Any Player to have 205+ Rushing Yards +2200
- Any Player to Have 216+ Receiving Yards +2500
- Any Player to throw 7+ TD Passes +4000
- Any Player to have 506+ Passing Yards +12500
Both the Kansas City and San Francisco offenses are capable of high output, but Super Bowl sportsbooks don’t believe any records will be broken next Sunday. The most reasonably achievable record, according to the odds, is a player scoring 4 or more TDs.
4 Or More Touchdowns Scored
3 non-passing touchdowns have been scored by a player in a Super Bowl on seven occasions. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was the last to score 3 TDs, placing 18 points on the board in Super Bowl LVII.
Christian McCaffrey is the most likely to achieve four non-passing TDs. He currently holds +200 odds to score two or more touchdowns.
205 Or More Rushing Yards
Timmy Smith of the then-Washington Redskins set the all-time SB mark for rushing yards when he peeled off 205 yards against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII. Once again, the 49ers McCaffrey is the most likely player to approach 205 yards rushing. Super Bowl player prop bets suggest an over/under of 91.5 yards for McCaffrey.
216 Or More Receiving Yards
Back in 1989, 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice hauled in 215 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has the highest pregame over/under set at 71.5 yards, but we’d be surprised to see Mahomes lean on him to the tune of 200+.
7 Or More Passing Touchdowns
In 1995, San Francisco QB Steve Young threw for six touchdowns against the San Diego Chargers. Will either Purdy or Mahomes break that Super Bowl XXIX record on February 11th? Both QBs are favored to throw for at least 2 touchdowns, but given the strong defenses on both sides, 7 seems unlikely.
506 Or More Passing Yards
Tom Brady threw for the most Super Bowl passing yards in the history of the game with 505 against the Eagles in SB LII. This seems to be the most reachable of records because trailing teams tend to get back into the game (or try to) by throwing the ball.
