The Cleveland Browns Quarterback Room Is Crowded Following The 2025 NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders celebrating

The 2025 NFL Draft is over, and the Cleveland Browns now find themselves with five quarterbacks on the roster. DeShaun Watson is likely out for the 2025 season with injury, and the Browns drafted Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders to potentially replace him in the lineup.

Several NFL prop bets regarding Cleveland’s QB situation following last weekend’s Draft have appeared, mostly revolving around the starting status of Shedeur Sanders.

Following Sanders’ epic slide into the third day of the Draft, the Browns will find out whether the critics were correct or if they got the steal of the century by selecting Shedeur in the fifth round.

Who Will Take The First Week 1 Snap For The Cleveland Browns?

  • Kenny Pickett +120
  • Shedeur Sanders +300
  • Dillon Gabriel +300
  • Joe Flacco +300
  • Deshaun Watson +1800

With such a crowded quarterback room in Cleveland, it is tough to determine who will get the Week 1 nod. The NFL has announced that schedules for each team will be revealed on May 14th, so we’ll know who their opening opponent will be at that time.

We can say for sure that Deshaun Watson will not be under center for Cleveland next September. He is currently rehabbing a torn Achilles, and his earliest projected return is late 2025.

With the Browns drafting two rookie quarterbacks in this year’s Draft, it can be assumed that the franchise is attempting to move on from Watson and eat the salary cap hit that his release will cause.

In March, Cleveland traded for Kenny Pickett, but that was likely a response to the news that Watson would miss most of the 2025 season. Could Pickett become expendable now that they’ve drafted Sanders and Gabriel?

Of the four active QBs, Joe Flacco would seem to be the most expendable. He is rated with a +300 moneyline to start the opening day, which is the same odds as Sanders and Gabriel.

NFL sportsbooks are projecting that Pickett will be the Week 1 starter for Cleveland.

Will Shedeur Sanders Start At Least 1 Game With The Cleveland Browns Next Season?

  • Yes +250

Sanders’ odds of +250 in the above prop imply that he has a 28% likelihood of starting a single game for Cleveland next season. The over/under for his total starts is set at an obnoxiously high 11.5 games in the following line, and naturally, the under is heavily favored in this case.

Total Games Shedeur Sanders Will Start During The 2025-26 Regular Season?

  • Over 11.5 Games +225
  • Under 11.5 Games -350

We expect this line to be adjusted to something more reasonable within the next 24 hours.
