NFL Betting Picks Against The Spread For Week 3

The first two weeks of the NFL season have been kind to us from a betting perspective. We’ve found that game lines produced early on in the season are typically more forgivable and easy to win against, as the makeup of each team is not completely known.

Entering Week 3, online NFL sportsbooks have gotten their act together and created a slate of lines that do not feature blatant winners that leap off the screen.

Here, we take a look at four games with a 1:00 PM kickoff time that we’ll be placing our bets on this weekend.

Denver Broncos @ Miami Dolphins

  • Point Spread: Denver +6.5, Miami -6.5
  • Moneyline Odds: Denver +240, Miami -290
  • Over/Under: 48.0

The Miami Dolphins have compiled a 2-0 record on the road this year against the LA Chargers and New England Patriots. Their first home game is this Sunday against the Broncos, and they are favored by nearly a touchdown.

While we do expect the Dolphins to eke out a win on Sunday against Denver, we do not expect them to cover the spread. Bet on Denver to cover this weekend.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Point Spread: Houston +8.0, Jacksonville -8.0
  • Moneyline Odds: Houston +315, Jacksonville -420
  • Over/Under: 44.5

The Jaguars are poised to win the AFC North this year, but they’re still experiencing growing pains and are not firing on all cylinders just yet. Houston is finding their way under rookie quarterback CJ Stroud. His poise in the pocket under pressure will serve him well against the Jaguars’ pass rush.

We’re sensing an upset here, but just to be safe, we’re only betting on the Texans to cover the 8 points.

Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens

  • Point Spread: Indianapolis +8.0, Baltimore -8.0
  • Moneyline Odds: Indianapolis +310, Baltimore -415
  • Over/Under: 43.5

The Colts will be without rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson against the Ravens, with Gardner Minshew starting in his absence. Indianapolis was able to hang with the Jaguars last weekend for most of the game, but they will have their hands full against the Ravens on Sunday.

We’re projecting an offensive outburst from Baltimore against the Colts, and we’re betting on the Ravens to cover.

New England Patriots @ New York Jets

  • Point Spread: New England -2.5, New York +2.5
  • Moneyline Odds: New England -145, New York +125
  • Over/Under: 36.5

The Jets are 1-1, and the Patriots 0-2, and both teams need the win to keep pace with the rest of the AFC East division. New England is favored by -2.5 on the road, and we feel that the Patriots will easily cover that spread, earning their first victory of the season.

We’re betting on the Patriots to cover and move on to 1-2.
