NCAAF Betting Begins With Tomorrow’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic

Two programs from the Atlantic Coast Conference go head-to-head in Dublin, Ireland at noon tomorrow to begin the 2024-25 NCAA Football season. The 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles battle the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in front of an exclusive national audience on ESPN.

Quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei transferred to Florida State from Oregon State due to their sudden lack of a conference commitment, and a solid performance on Saturday will leave a lasting memory for the College Football Playoffs Selection Committee.

The Seminoles are favored by 10.5 in the spread, and the over/under implies an approximate final score of FSU 33, Georgia Tech 22.

Florida State Seminoles vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

  • Point Spread: FSU -10.5, Georgia Tech +10.5
  • Moneyline: FSU -450, Georgia Tech +360
  • Over/Under: 55.5

Last year, the Seminoles won the ACC with an undefeated record but were snubbed from the College Football Playoffs because their quarterback, Jordan Travis, suffered a season-ending injury.

In 2024-25, the new 12-team CFP format has included an automatic bid for the winners of the Power Four conferences. The ACC futures are fairly unanimous at college football betting sites in that the Noles are favored to win the title.

ACC Conference Championship Odds For 2024-25

  • Florida State +325
  • Clemson +340
  • Miami +375
  • NC State +500
  • Virginia Tech +750
  • Louisville +1000
  • SMU +1000
  • North Carolina +2500
  • Syracuse +4000
  • Georgia Tech +6600
  • California +10000
  • Pittsburgh +12500
  • Duke +15000
  • Boston College +17500
  • Virginia +20000
  • Wake Forest +25000
  • Stanford +50000

Last season, Georgia Tech went 7-6 overall with a 5-3 in-conference record – good for fourth place. The Yellow Jackets seemed to perform better away from home, as they went 3-2 on the road and 1-0 in neutral locations.

The preseason ACC odds place Tech in the middle of the pack but there is a chasm between them and the seven teams the projected conference basement.

Early lines suggest a three-dog race for the ACC Championship between FSU, the Clemson Tigers, and Miami Hurricanes. We’ll know more about the Tigers’ potential when they play the Georgia Bulldogs on August 31st. Georgia is favored by two touchdowns.

The Seminoles play Clemson in Tallahassee on October 5th and Miami on the road this October 26th.

Unfortunately, the odds for betting on the College Football Playoffs suggest that there is only room for one ACC team. Most of the bracket will be taken up by the SEC and, to a lesser degree, the Big Ten if all goes according to the current CFP odds.

While that does create an all-or-nothing, do-or-die scenario for FSU, it does remove the requirement for perfection. The Seminoles can afford to lose a game or two because as long as they win the ACC Championship Game, a spot in the CFP is guaranteed.
