LoL Worlds 2019 Odds: G2 favored to beat FunPlus Phoenix in the Finals

g2 fpx summoner's cup

More than a month ago, the tournament field for the 2019 League of Legends Worlds Championship was 24 teams deep. However, those initial LoL Worlds odds showed two teams atop the boards, and those two teams – as expected – have advanced through the tournament to meet for all the (digital) marbles.

Going into the event, Chinese team FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) – a newcomer on the scene after being founded in December 2017 – was the overall favorite at +350 odds to win. Meanwhile, Germany’s G2 Esports, considered by many to be the best Western team in League of Legends history, was trending just behind at +400.

Now, the two teams will meet on Sunday, November 10, in Paris as each vies to summon the coveted Summoner’s Cup and the event’s top prize–37.5% of the prize pool, which will be at least $2.225 million.

Of course, that jackpot is a paltry sum compared to the amount of money that esports bettors will wager and win during the event. Last year’s LoL tournament finale drew more than 100 million viewers and turned tens of millions of dollars in s handle, and this year’s Grand Final should eclipse those numbers handily.

If you plan to participate in the betting festivities yourself, the top esports betting sites have already posted odds on the League of Legends World Championship, so you can get your wagers in immediately.

LoL Esports Betting Preview

Per the LOL betting odds, it’s clear that G2 Esports (-115) is favored to win the contest over FunPlus Phoenix (-110). However, if you’re familiar with traditional sports wagering, you’ll likely be surprised at the sheer amount of vigorish built into the above lines.

In this regard, eSports is a different beast from normal sports. The latter is far more predictable, with more long-term stability across the board and more historical data for bookmakers to draw from when establishing compelling lines.

With eSports betting, though, the landscape is as dynamic as the play on the screen, and while books do their best to offer attractive odds, there is necessarily a huge margin of error built into their selections.

Still, you are encouraged to shop lines across multiple betting sites to find the best value for your money, and different sportsbooks will have different LoL Championship odds to choose from.
