Betting On Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft Stock

Deion and Shedeur Sanders talking on the sidelines

Being the son of an NFL all-time great probably comes with more perks than setbacks. They’ll get a special look from college and professional scouts, and regardless of  where they are presently rated, they will always be viewed with a high ceiling of potential.

There’s also the benefits of coming up in a wealthy household, having access to the best coaches, and personal insights from their father.

One of the biggest setbacks is comparisons. Children of former superstars rarely live up to their parent’s billing, but it does happen from time to time. The Manning brothers each outpaced their father’s efforts on the gridiron.

Another con is the hatorade that critics will pour based on the athlete’s association with a former great.

Just weeks ago, Shadeur Sanders appeared to be a slam dunk top ten pick in this year’s NFL Draft. On the eve of the Draft, NFL betting sites are projecting that Sanders could slip into the 20s.

Online sportsbooks still rate Sanders as the second overall QB behind Miami’s Cam Ward, but rumors of poor interviews with teams has many believing that franchises at the top will take a pass on Shedeur.

2nd Quarterback Drafted

  • Shedeur Sanders -285
  • Jaxson Dart +160
  • Jalen Milroe +650
  • Cameron Ward +5000
  • Quinn Ewers +15000
  • Will Howard +15000

These odds for betting on the NFL Draft place the Pittsburgh Steelers as the most likely team to select Sanders. The Steelers hold pick number 21, but there is a possibility that they could trade up to ensure they land their future franchise quarterback.

Team to Draft Shedeur Sanders

  • Pittsburgh Steelers EVEN
  • Cleveland Browns +200
  • New York Giants +215
  • New Orleans Saints +700
  • Las Vegas Raiders +700
  • Los Angeles Ram +1400
  • New York Jets +1600
  • Miami Dolphins +2500
  • Seattle Seahawks +2500
  • Indianapolis Colts +3500
  • Dallas Cowboys +3000
  • BetUS

Due to rookie max contracts, NFL teams are more likely than ever to take a chance on a first-round QB. That said, if Pittsburgh considers Sanders to be “their guy,” then there’s all the reason in the world to trade up in the first for a better shot at him.

Pittsburgh Steelers Position of 1st Drafted Player

  • Quarterback EVEN
  • Defensive Line/Edge +145
  • Offensive Lineman +700
  • Cornerback +700
  • Running Back +700
  • Wide Receiver +1200
  • Safety +1200
  • Linebacker +3000
  • Tight End +4000
  • Kicker/Punter/Long Snapper +25000
  • BetUS

NFL prop bets are rating quarterback as the most likely position that Pittsburgh will select with their first overall pick. With the departure of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, the Steelers need an answer at QB.

The only question is Pittsburgh’s assessment of Sanders.
