The NFL Preseason has entered its third week of action, and starters are expected to see the field for much of the first half during their respective games this weekend. All four NFC East franchises have contests over the next four days, starting with the Eagles vs. Patriots tonight.
The Dallas Cowboys look to win the NFC East for the second year in a row, while the Philadelphia Eagles seek to reestablish their stranglehold on the division.
2023-24 NFC East Standings
- Dallas Cowboys 12-5
- Philadelphia Eagles 11-6
- New York Giants 6-11
- Washington Commanders 4-13
The division futures offered at Bovada imply the East will be a battle between the Cowboys and Eagles. This is nothing new. The division has been won by Philadelphia or Dallas every season since 2013 except on two occasions when Washington captured the East.
2024-25 NFC East Futures
- Philadelphia Eagles -150
- Dallas Cowboys +185
- Washington Commanders +900
- New York Giants +1700
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles return with much of the same starting roster as last year. They lost running back DeAndre Swift to the Chicago Bears and replaced him by signing Saquan Barkley away from the New York Giants. DB Quinyon Michell was drafted in the first round and looks to provide solid depth to an already stout defensive unit.
Philadelphia Eagles Regular Season Wins
- Over 10.5 Wins -145
- Under 10.5 Wins +110
Philly suffered a historic late-season implosion in 2023-24, but we’re not expecting a repeat performance. Look for Jalen Hurts and the Eagles to at least split the series with DAL and take the East with 11 wins or better.
Dallas Cowboys
The Boys are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, but owner Jerry Jones is at a crossroads. Three of his top players—quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and linebacker Micah Parsons — are requesting max-money contract extensions.
Dallas Cowboys Regular Season Wins
- Over 9.5 Wins -150
- Under 9.5 Wins +115
If Lamb is traded or his holdout extends into the regular season, it will impact their regular season win totals. Dallas can probably handle the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints in Weeks 1 and 2 without him, but they’ll need CeeDee’s services when they face the Baltimore Ravens on September 22nd.
Washington Commanders
The Commanders are not projected for a playoff run this season, as it can be considered a rebuilding campaign under first-year head coach Dan Quinn and rookie first-round quarterback Jayden Daniels from LSU.
Washington Commanders Regular Season Wins
- Over 6.5 Wins -125
- Under 6.5 Wins -105
Washington fans have plenty of reason to be excited about Daniels, and the team could make some noise in the East by performing only slightly above expectations and winning 7 or more games.
New York Giants
We believe NFL betting sites are accurate in their projections for the Giants, who will finish last in the NFC East. They do have a solid nucleus of young talent, but quarterback Daniel Jones has not displayed the moxie to make his team a consistent winner.
New York Giants Regular Season Wins
- Over 6.5 Wins +115
- Under 6.5 Wins -150
We believe that NY will hold a top draft pick next season and perhaps employ it on their QB of the future. Shadeur Sanders in the Big Apple could become a reality.
