Will the Dota 2 TI9 prize pool surpass the Fortnite World Cup? Plus odds on who will win The International 2019.

Two of the globe’s most popular esports are hosting their world championships over the next two months, and the latest esports prop bet odds favor Dota 2 taking down Fortnite for the top prize pool in esports history.

Currently, Dota 2’s The International 2019 (TI9) has been given -375 ($375 to win $100) odds, or a 75.68% chance, to top the Fortnite World Cup Finals $30 million prize pool.

Fortnite is the underdog at +260 ($100 to win $260) odds, a 24.32% implied probability, according to oddsmakers.

Fortnite set the record for the biggest prize pool ever for an esports tournament when its publisher Epic Games announced that it would contribute a whopping $30 million for its first-ever Fortnite World Cup Finals — held on July 26-28 in Queens, New York.

Dota 2 frequently breaks its own records each year with its annual crowdfunding for The International prize pool and set a new mark last year when it raised $25.53 million for TI8.

TI9, which is scheduled to be held from August 20-25 in Shanghai, has already surpassed last year mark just 57 days in and currently sits at $25.8 million at the time of writing.

Needless to say, but it’d be hard to imagine the Dota 2 fanbase not being able to top Fortnite’s $30 million prize pool with roughly seven weeks remaining until the start of the tournament.

Betting odds are also available for exactly how much money TI9 will raise when all is said and done. Oddsmakers believe the total will fall between $30,000,000 and $31,499,999 with +105 odds given for that amount — a 48.78% chance.

If you think you whether AdmiralBulldog will attend the event in Shanghai, the betting odds are against him making the trip with -175 (60.57%) for “No” and +135 (39.43%) for “Yes.”

Lastly, the oddsmakers have put out futures for which Dota 2 teams are most likely win The International 2019.

Team Secret opens as the favorite with +250 odds (28.57%) to win the 2019 Aegis of Champions.

The favorites from Europe are followed by Vici Gaming +375 (21.05%), Team Liquid +450 (18.18%), Virtus Pro +600 (14.29%), and Evil Geniuses and PSG.LGD is tied at +800 (11.11%) to round out the top five teams with the best chance of winning TI9 this year.

Jacob has been writing ever since he was a wee lad, but he “officially” became a “professional writer” in 2013 after he received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) College of Journalism and Communications. At UF CJC Weimer Hall, he learned from some of the world’s top professors — including Pulitzer Prize winners and jurors — in journalism, public relations, marketing, and multimedia. Alongside his passion for writing, Jacob has in-depth knowledge and understanding of all sports and esports and would wager that few know more than him, especially when it comes to his two favorites: NFL and college football. And because sports and betting go together like peanut butter and jelly, he chose to bake (and make) some bread by joining the team at SportsBetting.Legal in 2018. Today, you’ll catch Jacob betting, watching, and writing regularly on sports happening all around the world in addition to covering the legislation that’s currently in the works across the United States. When he isn’t working or watching his favorite sports teams disappoint him by not winning it all every year, you’ll most likely find him immersed in any number of video games, such as Borderlands, Dark Souls, The Witcher, or pretty much any competitive multiplayer game not named Fortnite.
