Betting On The Armed Forces Bowl And Thursday Night Football Odds

Armed Forces Bowl and Thursday Night Football logos in front of a Christmas tree with presents

The days surrounding the Christmas holiday are always packed with pro and college sports, and tonight is no exception, as there is a College Football bowl game and Thursday Night Football on the docket.

First up at 7:30 PM is the Armed Forces Bowl which is being played at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.

Air Force Falcons vs. Baylor Bears

  • Point Spread: Air Force +3.5, Baylor -3.5
  • Moneyline: Air Force +145, Baylor -170
  • Over/Under: 43.0

At kickoff, the temperature in Fort Worth is expected to be 17 degrees. The Armed Forces Bowl is rare in that it ties in Army, the American Athletic Conference, which includes Navy, and the Mountain West Conference, where Air Force is a member.

It doesn’t happen every year, but it seems appropriate that a military school would be featured in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Betting on College Football bowl games can be done before kickoff or during the actual contest with live betting lines that include action on the spread, moneyline, and over/under.

If the spread is too close, or you’re just not certain where to place your wager due to any number of elements, wait until the game gets started and partake in in-play betting once you feel more comfortable – just don’t wait too long because the lines are often removed at some point during the fourth quarter.

Up at 8:15 PM is an NFL contest that schedulers probably assumed would be a dud, but playoff implications are on the line for both franchises.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Jets

  • Point Spread: Jags +2.0, Jets -2.0
  • Moneyline: Jags +105, Jets -125
  • Over/Under: 37.0

Jacksonville has worked their way back into the NFL Playoff picture by winning their last two games against the Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans.

The Jaguars are now only one game behind the Titans in the AFC South and need a win against the pesky New York Jets tonight on the road to keep their postseason hopes alive.

New York also needs a win at home to keep pace in the AFC wild card chase. The Jets are 7-7 and are sitting in the 9th overall spot in the AFC. The Jaguars are currently 10th in the conference but are much closer to their division leader than New York.

Legal NFL betting sites are favoring the Jets to win by a spread of 2 points. Something to keep in mind before betting on the Jets to win or cover is that Zach Wilson is getting the start at quarterback for New York.

Also, Jacksonville has been on an offensive tear, with second-year QB Trevor Lawrence lighting up the stat boards over the past few weeks. Check out his stat lines for the past two games.

Trevor Lawrence Stats

  • Dec. 18 vs. Cowboys – 27/42, 318 Yards, 4 Touchdowns, 1 Interception
  • Dec. 11 vs. Titans – 30/42, 368 Yards, 3 Touchdowns, 1 Touchdown Rushing

The going will not be as easy for Lawrence against the stingy defense of the New York Jets. They are ranked third overall in total defense, allowing 18.8 points and 305 total yards per game.
