2020 Masters Odds Favor Xander Schauffele Over Stacked Field Of Golfers

Tiger Woods putting on green jacket at Masters 2019

There was a time early on in the COVID-19 pandemic where the fate of the 2020 Masters Tournament appeared to be in doubt. Major sports events were being canceled wholesale without regard for makeup dates or their fanbases that simply had to go without.

Once precautions were put into place, major PGA events, as well as high profile celebrity golf matchups like “The Match” II & III,” were able to proceed without any major risk for infection.

Once the PGA felt confident in their preventative measures, they began placing tournaments back on the schedule, including the coveted annual Masters Tournament from Augusta, Georgia.

The tournament kicks off this afternoon and features a massive field of the world’s top golfers, all of whom are eager to earn a green jacket in 2020. Betting on the Masters is already underway, as futures, props, and matchup pairing odds are posted at top sportsbooks now.

In the world of sports betting, it is difficult to count Tiger Woods out of contention, and his name is one that draws more action than others, especially from casual bettors.

His Masters win in 2019 was completely unexpected, as he is no longer winning tournaments at the rate that he used to. His preparation for major tournaments is a factor that must be considered, as there is no question that he is laser-focused on enhancing his legacy.

Tiger is still chasing Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 total major tournament wins and is likely the only motivation that keeps him returning to the golf course time and time again.

Tiger is currently sitting at +2800 odds which would provide a $2,800 payout on a $100 wager. That’s not a bad bet, especially for a golfer with the resume that Woods’ has.

Bryson DeChambeau is entering the tournament hot after his victory in September at the US Open where he finished six strokes ahead of his nearest competition. Betting on DeChambeau’s futures odds are profitable, but it is also difficult to select the winner from such a competitive field of golfers.

Shrinking down the field makes for much easier betting with a more reasonable chance of winning, and the following Masters prop bet does just that.

1st Round 3 Balls – T. Woods / S. Lowry / A. Ogletree – Hole 14 Winner

  • Tiger Woods +135
  • Shane Lowry +175
  • Andy Ogletree +225

Bettors need to merely select the golfer that finishes with the lowest score on the 14th hole in round one of the Masters Tournament. Even with so few options to choose from, they all feature odds in the positive, meaning that they will all payout at a greater amount than the total money risked.

There are dozens of lines just like the one above, and there’s sure to be one that leaps out to you as a winner. Regardless of which betting line you opt for, be sure to choose soon as all opportunities to wager on the Masters will dry up by Sunday afternoon.
