The Trump administration is swiftly moving forward with its illegal immigration policy but is having issues addressing the number of detainees.
How constitutional these due processes are depends entirely on which side of the political aisle each American resides on. Left-leaning political ideologists believe that these detainments are unconstitutional, while supporters of Trump view them as a necessary evil at worst and are merely a temporary stop on each detainee’s proper exit from the United States.
Either way, these processes are underway nationwide, and in some red states, temporary shelters are being created to hold potential deportees.
One such facility that is attracting national attention is located in the Everglades of southern Florida. The place is being called “Alligator Alcatraz,” but critics have dubbed it “Alligator Auschwitz” due to its resemblance to the infamous concentration camp from World War II.
What Is Alligator Alcatraz?
Also known as “Gator Gitmo,” “Alligator Alcatraz” is a newly established migrant detention facility adjacent to the Dade-Collier Transition & Training Airport. Its name alludes to the facility’s isolated setting, surrounded by formidable wildlife, including alligators and pythons.
It is projected to have a capacity of 5,000 beds once fully operational. The goal of the center is to process deportees in mass via expeditious judicial hearings. The surrounding wilderness is also intended to deter any interest in escape.
That said, the facility doesn’t appear to be particularly difficult to escape, as chain-link fences secure it. Online political sportsbooks believe that the threat of the surrounding wildlife will be enough to discourage any escape attempts.

Despite any criticisms of the structural integrity of the detention center, entertainment props are available at two different betting sites that favor an outcome where no detainees escape from Alligator Alcatraz.
Is There Any Danger Of Hurricanes?
The facility is located roughly 45 miles from Miami, Florida, and with hurricane season already here, the threat of high winds and weather-related dangers is legitimate.
While most experts are projecting a slower-than-usual season based on the total activity observed in June, entertainment sportsbooks are suggesting four major hurricanes, eight total hurricanes, and 16 named storms in 2025.
The facility is connected to an airport, so there is potential for evacuation by air if needed, and there is a decent chance they’ll need it. A major hurricane has hit the state of Florida every year since 2022.
The state is geographically vast, which reduces the likelihood that a hurricane will directly hit Alligator Alcatraz. The last significant hurricane to travel across the Everglades was Irma in 2017.
