Today is the final day of the 2024 MLB season, and all but two spots in the playoffs have been sewn up.
The MLB Playoff picture will not shape up entirely until the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves play a doubleheader today. The first game begins at 1:10 PM this afternoon on ESPN.
New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves Betting Line

Major League Baseball betting sites are only offering lines for the first of today’s double-header games. We expect lines for the second game to appear at some point during the first contest.
With under three hours remaining until the opening pitch, the Braves are favored to win the first game against the Mets with the standard -1.5 MLB runline.
MLB Playoff Clinching Scenarios
- If the Atlanta Braves win both of today’s games against the Mets, they will become the fifth seed in the National League. If they split the series, they will earn the sixth seed.
- The New York Mets will be playoff-bound if they win either of today’s games against the Braves. They will become the fifth seed with one or two wins and can only miss the playoffs if they get swept by the Braves today.
- If either the Braves or Mets win both of today’s games, the Arizona Diamondbacks will qualify as the sixth seed in the NL.
The current National League futures place the Diamondbacks as the least likely NL team to make it to the 2024 World Series, which could imply that they’ll be left out of the playoffs once the regular season wraps up today.
