Focus Shifts To Triple Crown Winners, Preakness Betting, Following Derby

  • Kentucky Derby Winner Mystic Dan Has Yet To Declare For The Preakness Stakes

The 2024 Kentucky Derby finish was one of the closest in decades, as three thoroughbreds crossed the line within a head and a nose of each other. Mystic Dan, a +2000 underdog won the first leg of the 2024 Triple Crown, as favorites Fierceness and Sierra Leone failed to capture victory.

Fierceness and Sierra Leone were the co-favorites to win and finished 15th and 2nd, respectively. All focus has now shifted to betting on the Preakness Stakes, the second leg of the 2024 Triple Crown.

Preakness Stakes odds have yet to debut, and Triple Crown prop bets have vanished. Lines will appear once the final race order has been set, but the disappearance of the 2024 Triple Crown odds is likely due to the winner of the Derby, Mystic Dan.

Mystic Dan has yet to commit to Preakness.

“We’re not committed to the Preakness, not yet… I ran him back once in two weeks and it completely backfired on me and we skipped the Rebel because it was back too quick… We’re going to let the horse tell us. If I don’t think he’s right and ready, then we’ll just wait for the Belmont.”

Kenny McPeek – Trainer Of Mystic Dan

Unfortunately for Triple Crown betting enthusiasts, there is a chance that none of the starters featured at the Derby will take part at Preakness.

The early favorite to win Preakness is Muth, a three-year-old who did not compete in the 2024 Kentucky Derby. Muth’s owner, Bob Baffert, is suspended from competing at Churchill Downs.

The suspension dates back to 2001, when Baffert’s horse, Medina Spirit, won the Kentucky Derby. Following the race, Medina Spirit tested positive for betamethasone, a steroid that has been banned.

The expectation is that Triple Crown betting sites will feature Muth and Mystic Dan in the top two positions in the Preakness Stakes odds.

Anyone planning on betting on the Preakness Stakes should consider doing so at BetUS. They are currently offering a horse racing bonus to new and existing members that will award a 10% cash bonus and a 20% casino bonus with a max value of $2,500.

Anyone who opts to accept this bonus will receive a free $10 bet on the Belmont Stakes happening on June 8th.

This bonus can be used to bet on horse races immediately.
