The Boston College Eagles open their 2024-24 season on the road in Tallahassee, Florida’s Doak Campbell Stadium, where they’ll take on the FSU Seminoles at 7:30 PM tonight.
Florida State is now hungry to get back on track after losing their opener to Georgia Tech in Ireland and finding themselves in a 0-1 hole in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Technically, the Seminoles are the tenth-ranked team in the nation, but the AP didn’t update their polls following the Week 0 games. It is uncertain whether FSU would be a top-25 team if the rankings had been adjusted.
If they come up short against BC, their current ranking will be the least of their worries.
Betting On FSU vs. Boston College
This morning, the lines posted at college football betting sites are favoring the Noles to win big tonight. We’ve observed point spreads ranging between 15.5 and 17, with a consistent over/under of 49.5.
Boston College @ Florida State
- Point Spread: BC +16.5, FSU -16.5
- Moneyline: BC +550, FSU -850
- Over/Under: 49.5
FSU added quarterback DJ Uiagalelei from Oregon State in the offseason, and it appeared that coach Mike Norvell had limited the playbook against Georgia Tech. Prop bets for Uiagalelei suggest that he’ll throw for 215 yards and at least two touchdowns vs. BC.
FSU’s running back Roydell Williams is projected to have the most rushing yards, with an over/under set at 67.5. Williams had 12 carries for 28 yards against Georgia Tech.
The odds for Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos say he will be the team’s top rusher. The junior rushed for just under 1,000 yards last season, proving that he’s a dual threat that must be gameplanned for.
Last year’s contest between the Eagles and Seminoles was pretty tight. FSU won 31-29, with Boston College scoring three late TDs to give the Seminoles a scare.
BC is now led by new head coach Bill O’Brien, formerly of the Houston Texans. With FSU struggling and so many unknowns in play regarding BC, we are picking the Eagles to cover this massive point spread but still lose by double-digits.
A Struggling ACC
Two days ago, the Clemson Tigers were soundly defeated 34-3 by the Georgia Bulldogs, proving they’re not poised for a return to the elite tier of college football programs.
Vanderbilt beat the Virginia Tech Hokies in overtime at home, revealing that even the SEC’s basement dwellers can hand a loss to a mid-tier ACC program.
Saturday wasn’t a complete bust for the conference, though. The Miami Hurricanes destroyed the Florida Gators in Gainesville by a final score of 41-17, easily covering the -2.5-point spread.
UM now holds the best shot at attaining a commanding position in the playoffs, and CFP sportsbooks currently rate them 8th overall.
