Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is three games into his NFL career. Over that span, he has won two, lost one, and has not thrown an interception.
Daniels didn’t throw a touchdown pass until last night’s two-TD effort against the Cincinnati Bengals. What’s been impressive is his completion percentage of 80.3%. Thus far in 2024-25, he has completed 61 passes on 76 attempts for 664 yards.
Equally impressive is his footwork in the pocket and rushing prowess. Over three contests, he’s run for 171 yards and three touchdowns, but he has taken nine sacks.
Online NFL sportsbooks now rate Daniels as the most likely Rookie of the Year winner.

Are The Commanders A Contender?
The National Football League is all about wins and losses. There are no playoff committees to impress to qualify for the postseason. Like former Las Vegas Raiders owner Al Davis famously said, “Just win, baby.”
We say that because victories in the NFL are the most crucial overall statistic and should never be taken lightly. Before the league installed a 17-game regular season, ten wins represented a reasonable expectation for playoff qualification.
Now, eleven wins is likely the mark to hit, and Washington already has two in the bag. We say all this because their W’s have come against the lowly New York Giants and the decent-ish Bengals.
Are there nine potential wins remaining on the Commanders’ schedule? Yes. The teams we believe D.C. and Daniels can get a win against are highlighted in bold.
2024-25 Washington Commanders Schedule
- @ Arizona Cardinals
- Cleveland Browns
- @ Baltimore Ravens
- Carolina Panthers
- Chicago Bears
- @ New York Giants
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- @ Philadelphia Eagles
- Dallas Cowboys
- Tennessee Titans
- @ New Orleans Saints
- Philadelphia Eagles
- Atlanta Falcons
- @ Dallas Cowboys
We’re also confident that Washington can split the series with Dallas and Philadelphia, bringing them to eleven wins, but will it be enough to capture the NFC East?
Who Will Win The NFC East?
The Eagles and Commanders are tied with two wins each, but D.C. has the tie-breaker edge.
NFC East Standings
- Washington Commanders 2-1
- Philadelphia Eagles 2-1
- Dallas Cowboys 1-2
- New York Giants 1-2
Even with Washington’s early success and Daniels’s promise at quarterback, the NFL futures don’t give them much of a shot at winning the division.
NFC East Futures
- Philadelphia Eagles -220
- Dallas Cowboys +260
- Washington Commanders +750
- New York Giants +4000
Oddsmakers also disagree with our assessment regarding their chances against the Arizona Cardinals this weekend. Current game lines favor Arizona by 3.5 at home.
Commanders vs. Cardinals Betting Line
- Spread: Commanders +3.5 (-105), Cardinals -3.5 (-115)
- Moneyline: Commanders +157, Cardinals -177
- Over: 51.0 (-115)
- Under: 51.0 (-105)
We’re betting on WAS to cover the spread, and we expect them to win the game on the road this Sunday and climb to a record of 3-1.
