For the first time in the history of the March Madness Tournament, no top seeds have advanced to the Final Four. The 4-seeded UConn Huskies are the highest-ranking team remaining and are the only program still around that has previously won a college basketball National Championship.
The last time a seed that was not number 1 or 2 won it all was when the Connecticut Huskies cut down the nets back in 2014.
This Saturday, Houston, Texas’ NRG Stadium will host this historic Final Four draw. First up at 6:09 PM is the FAU Owls vs. the San Diego State Aztecs.
Florida Atlantic Owls (#9) vs. San Diego State Aztecs (#5)
- FAU Point Spread: +2.0
- FAU Moneyline: +110
- San Diego State Point Spread: -2.0
- San Diego State Moneyline: -130
- Over/Under: 131.0
Legal March Madness betting sites are favoring San Diego to end FAU ‘s Cinderella story, holding the edge in the point spread by a slim 2-point margin. It may sound strange, but the FAU Owls making it to the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament Finals would hardly be an upset at this point.
Both teams are in uncharted waters – they’ve never made it this far before into the tournament before. The Owls had never won a March Madness game prior to this year’s tourney, while the Aztecs’ deepest run was when they made it to the Sweet 16 in 2014 and 2011.
We’re laying off of this matchup but are leaning toward the Owls covering.
Saturday at 8:49 PM, the Miami Hurricanes and UConn Huskies will tip-off.
Miami Hurricanes (#5) vs. Connecticut Huskies (#4)
- Miami Point Spread: +5.5
- Miami Moneyline: +200
- UConn Point Spread: -5.5
- UConn Moneyline: -240
- Over/Under 149.5
The odds for betting on the Final Four feature UConn as a 5.5-point favorite over the Hurricanes, suggesting they’ll make it to the NCAA Finals for the fifth time in program history.
Miami is building off of last year’s Elite 8 appearance, which until 2023, was their best tournament performance. Oddsmakers are unified in their belief that UM’s run will end Saturday night at the hands of the Huskies.
We’re not so certain about a UConn win, as Miami has already offed a 1, 2, and 4 seed in 2023. The Huskies have had a much easier run thus far, comparatively.
The futures odds for betting on the NCAA Basketball Finals paint a much clearer picture regarding who the top dog in the tournament is.
March Madness Futures
- Connecticut (#4) -125
- San Diego State (#5) +365
- Miami Florida (#5) +500
- Florida Atlantic (#9) +600
If you believe that any team other than UConn will win the tournament, the time to bet is now. Between 3.25x and 6x payouts are on the table if you choose correctly.
These NCAAB futures will likely be removed from the boards once FAU and San Diego State tip off this Saturday, so you’ve got between now and then to lay some action on these tasty moneylines.
