Women’s March Madness: Betting On The Sweet 16

South Carolina women's basketball team members talking

The women’s field of 68 is now down to the Sweet 16, with all four 1-seeds, 2-seeds, and 3-seeds remaining in contention. The lowest seeds on the boards are Tennessee and Kansas State, both 5s.

South Carolina has won two out of the last three March Madness Tournaments. The Gamecocks are rated as the second overall team remaining in the tourney, but trail UConn by only 15 points in the moneyline odds.

2025 NCAA Women’s March Madness Futures

  • Connecticut (#2) +150
  • South Carolina (#1) +165
  • UCLA (#1) +650
  • Texas (#1) +900
  • Notre Dame (#3) +1200
  • USC (#1) +2500
  • TCU (#2) +3000
  • Duke (#2) +3200
  • LSU (#3) +4000
  • Tennessee (#5) +5000
  • NC State (#2) +5500
  • Mississippi (#5) +7000
  • Oklahoma (#3) +8000
  • Kansas State (#5) +8500
  • Maryland (#4) +15000
  • North Carolina (#3) +15000

The women return to action tomorrow and conclude the Sweet 16 on Saturday.

North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Duke Blue Devils

  • Spread: North Carolina +5.5 (-115), Duke -5.5 (-105)
  • Moneyline: North Carolina +200, Duke -240
  • Over: 124.5 (-110)
  • Under: 124.5 (-110)

The Duke Blue Devils are favored by -5.5 against their ACC rivals, the North Carolina Tar Heels. Despite Duke’s continued success with the men’s basketball program, the women have never won a national championship. NC won the tournament and their only WNCAAB title back in 1994.

Maryland Terrapins vs. South Carolina Gamecocks

  • Spread: Maryland +17.5 (-110), South Carolina -17.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Maryland +1100, South Carolina -2800
  • Over: 150.0 (-110)
  • Under: 150.0 (-110)

South Carolina is expected to have a cake walk into the Elite 8, as they are favored to win by a massive point spread of -17.5 over Maryland. The Gamecocks are attempting to win back-to-back championships, and their fourth overall title as a program.

LSU Tigers vs. NC State Wolfpack

  • Spread: LSU -3.5 (-105), NC State +3.5 (-115)
  • Moneyline: LSU -165, NC State +140
  • Over: 153.5 (-110)
  • Under: 153.5 (-110)

LSU and NC State are projected for a close contest, as the Tigers are -3.5 favorites over the Wolfpack. LSU won the tournament in 2023, but they are rated in the middle of the pack according to the latest futures.

Mississippi Rebels vs. UCLA Bruins

  • Spread: Mississippi +8.5 (-110), UCLA -8.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Mississippi +315, UCLA -420
  • Over: 133.5 (-110)
  • Under: 133.5 (-110)

UCLA is another program that has had historic success with its men’s basketball program, but the women have yet to cut down the nets at the end of March Madness. The Bruins are projected for an easy win against Mississippi and are rated third overall in the odds to win the title.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. TCU Horned Frogs

  • Spread: Notre Dame -7.0 (-110),  TCU +7.0 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Notre Dame -300, TCU +250
  • Over: 144.5 (-110)
  • Under: 144.5 (-110)

Notre Dame has won two national championships and has lost in the final game five times. The Irish should have no trouble getting beyond TCU, and make a nice sleeper pick to win the title at +1200.

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Texas Longhorns

  • Spread: Tennessee +8.0 (-110), Texas -8.0 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Tennessee +290, Texas -380
  • Over: 154.5 (-110)
  • Under: 154.5 (-110)

This all-SEC matchup should be closer than the 8-point spread indicates. Texas is rated fourth among the final 16 in the betting odds, and they have a decent shot at winning their first title since 1984.

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Connecticut Huskies

  • Spread: Oklahoma +14.5 (-110), Connecticut -14.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Oklahoma +725, Connecticut -1300
  • Over: 153.5 (-110)
  • Under: 153.5 (-110)

UConn has more women’s titles than any other college basketball team. They’ve won 11 March Madness titles and finished as runner-up once. They are favored to win again this season.

Kansas State Wildcats vs. USC Trojans

  • Spread: Kansas State +1.0 (-115), USC -1.0 (-105)
  • Moneyline: Kansas State -110, USC -110
  • Over: 141.5 (-110)
  • Under: 141.5 (-110)

K-State vs. USC features the tightest spread on the boards for the Sweet 16 with a 1-point differential. The winner will move on to face either UConn or Oklahoma in the Round of 8.
