UFC 309 Betting: Could This Be Jon Jones’ Last Fight?

  • UFC 309 Early Prelims Begin Saturday At 6 PM On UFC Fight Pass
  • Prelims Begin At 8 PM On ESPNNews or ESPN+
  • Main Card Starts At 10 PM ($79.99 On ESPN+ Pay-Per-View)

This Saturday night will mark Jon Jones’ return to the UFC. His last fight was in March of 2023, but a series of setbacks sidelined the second chapter of his comeback for twenty months.

Most of the top UFC betting sites now have lines posted for the fight. The following UFC 309 odds for the main event are offered by Bovada.

Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic Betting Line

  • Jones -675
  • Miocic +460
  • Over: 2.5 (+120)
  • Under: 2.5 (-155)

Jones is a heavy favorite to retain his UFC Heavyweight Championship, ranking 935 points ahead of Miocic. To give a college football betting comparison to these odds, the #1 Oregon Ducks (-650) are favored to beat the unranked Wisconsin Badgers (+450) by a smaller margin this Saturday.

Favorable betting odds are no stranger to Jones. Technically, he’s never been beaten. His only loss was a disqualification due to illegal punches. Jones is a once-in-a-generation fighter, and at 37 years old, these could be some of the last strikes he throws in a professional setting.

Miocic vs. Jones was initially scheduled for UFC 285 last November. In the days leading up to the fight, Jon suffered a torn pectoral and had to take a year off.

Stipe’s last appearance at a sanctioned Ultimate Fighting Championship event was UFC 260 in March 2021, where he lost via a second-round knockout to Francis Ngannou.

That loss tied the series with Ngannou at one win apiece, but the rubber match to settle the score was never booked. Those two Ngannou fights sandwiched an epic three-fight series with Daniel Cormier, in which Miocic won the final two meetings.

Stipe is a striker by trade, with 15 of his 20 wins coming by KO.

Miocic has proven he can go toe-to-toe with the best and exit the victor, but online sportsbooks don’t believe that he has a chance this weekend against Jones. According to the prefight prop bets available on Thursday, Jones will most likely win via a knockout, TKO, or disqualification.

How Will Fight End

  • KO/TKO/DQ -125
  • Submission +220
  • Decision +300

Round betting props suggest the projected knockout win will occur between the first and third.

Total Rounds Over/Under

  • Over 1.5 Rounds -170
  • Under 1.5 Rounds +130
  • Over 3.5 Rounds +200
  • Under 3.5 Rounds -275
  • Over 4.5 Rounds +280
  • Under 4.5 Rounds -410

The moneyline odds offering the best payouts are set at +280, and they will cash in if the fight goes the distance.

An intriguing element of the bout is Jones’ recent rise to the heavyweight class. He’s traditionally fought in the light heavyweight division, and this will be only the second time he’s fought at this level.

Will Jones climb to 2-0 as a heavyweight and retain the title? Don’t miss UFC 309 this Saturday because there may not be many more chances to see a Jon Jones fight before he retires.
