Trump Leads Election Odds Following Sunday’s Controversial MSG Rally

Donald Trump speaking at a rally in Madison Square Garden

Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s performance at a Madison Square Garden rally last Sunday has Donald Trump’s campaign concerned about backlash, with only a week to go until election day.

Much of the attention is due to a joke Hinchcliffe (Kill Tony) made about Puerto Rico.

“There’s a lot going on. Like, I don’t know if you know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico…”

Trump is not one for apologies, but his campaign has stated that Hinchcliffe’s remarks do not reflect his views. For some on the right and left, that may not be enough.

Angel M. Cintrón, the GOP Chairman from PR, has demanded an apology from Trump.

“It is not sufficient for your campaign to apologize… It is important that you, personally, apologize for these comments.”

There is a sizable number of Puerto Ricans that reside in Pennsylvania, a battleground state that both Trump and Kamala Harris may need to get beyond 270 electoral college votes.

Could these comments swing PA in Harris’ favor? Not according to the odds.

2024 Presidential Election Odds – Pennsylvania

  • Donald Trump Sr. -165
  • Kamala Harris +120

Trump is 85 points in front of Harris in PA at political betting sites, suggesting he’ll earn their 19 electoral college votes in 2024. Biden carried the state in 2020, but Trump won in 2016.

With Pennsylvania being under the political microscope, online sportsbooks have created prop bets for the voting results of several key counties.

Allegheny County: Kamala Harris Victory Margin

  • Over 21½ Percent -120
  • Under 21½ Percent -120

Berks County: Donald Trump Sr. Victory Margin

  • Over 10½ Percent -120
  • Under 10½ Percent -120

When broadening to a nationwide spectrum, Trump’s lead widens to 170 points, a margin that has not narrowed since Sunday’s rally in New York.

US Election Odds 2024

  • Kamala Harris +170
  • Donald Trump -200

Current political prop bets imply a 66% chance of success for Trump next Tuesday.

Kamala Harris will make her closing speech for her 2024 campaign tonight in Washington, D.C., from the same spot where Trump delivered his speech on January 6, 2021.

The DNC nominee is expected to issue warnings of what a Trump presidency could look like, but many critics believe her tactics too closely resemble those of Hilary Clinton in 2016.

However, these Puerto Rico comments remain a sticking point and could continue to impact US voters’ decisions as they prepare to head to the ballot boxes.
