On Sunday, April 20th, John Cena beat Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Championship at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The win marked the beginning of his 17th world championship title reign, putting Cena in first place all time, one ahead of Ric Flair.
On May 10th, the WWE will bring its Backlash Premium Live Event to St. Louis, MO, and will stream it on Peacock. The PLE will feature a Cena title defense in the main event against Randy Orton.
Cena is currently in his final year as an in-ring performer. The WWE has catapulted him to the top of the roster to make the most of his last run in the industry, and there is little chance that they’ll have Cena lose the strap just three weeks after winning it.
Online WWE sportsbooks agree, and a few of our top sites have already posted lines for Cena vs. Orton.
WWE Undisputed Universal Championship Betting Line
- John Cena -800, -2500
- Randy Orton +425, +800
- BetUS, BetOnline
Line shopping the odds for Orton vs. Cena suggests that the title will not change hands at Backlash. However, there is still plenty of room between the two books to secure the highest payout possible.
The max bet on Cena winning is set at $625 at BetOnline, which will net $25 if accurate. While Cena’s odds are closer to even at BetUS, the max wager of $80 is only good for a net gain of $10.
Randy Orton has positive odds at both books, and without checking the maximum each one will allow you to risk, it would seem like a no-brainer to place your wagers at BetUS and their +800 odds, which are nearly double what BOL is offering.
In reality, BetOnline’s maximum bet is set much higher than at BetUS. A $25 bet on Orton at BOL will net $200, while the $10 max at BetUS is only good for gains of $42.50.
Gunther vs. Pat McAfee Betting Line
- Gunther -1200, -1200
- Pat McAfee +600, +750
- BetUS, BetOnline
Pat McAfee and Gunther have also been announced for a match at Backlash. Current lines grant Gunther a massive advantage, implying a certain win.
Once again, players can earn more money by line shopping for the best payout.
Gunther has the same -1200 moneyline at both sites, but the maximum bet on him at BetOnline is $300, which pays out $25 if he wins. The most you can bet on Gunther at BetUS is $120, good for $10 if he wins.
Underdog bettors who want to take a chance on McAfee should do so at BOL, as a $25 max bet will earn $187.50 versus $10 for $60 at BetUS.
WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship Betting Line
- Becky Lynch -400, -450
- Lyra Valkyria +250 +275
- BetUS, BetOnline
The final line for WWE betting at this early juncture is Becky Lynch vs. Lyra Valkyria for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Lynch has a sizeable edge, with an advantage of roughly 500 points in the odds.
A $112.50 bet on Lynch at BOL will net $25, and the max wager of $40 will earn $10 at BetUS. Valkyria’s odds at BetOnline allow for a max wager of $25 for gains of $68.75, and a max bet of $10 at BetUS for winnings of $25.
