The Indianapolis Colts have signed free agent quarterback Daniel Jones to a one-year $14 million deal. Current Colts QB Anthony Richardson is entering his third season with the team, and the signing of Jones places his future with the franchise in doubt.
Due to injury and poor performance, Richardson has only played in 15 games over his first two seasons. Whether he earns the long-term gig at QB or not, Indianapolis needs an insurance policy at the position.
During Jones’ six seasons with the New York Giants, he has only started every game once.
Online NFL sportsbooks are taking action on a few Jones-Richardson prop bets regarding who will get more playing time during the 2025-26 season.
Week 1 Starting QB For The Colts?
- Anthony Richardson -200
- Daniel Jones +150
Richardson appears to have the edge on starting Week 1 this fall. However, NFL prop bets suggest that Jones will end up starting more games than Richardson next season.
Who Will Start More Games For The Colts During The 2025 Regular Season?
- Daniel Jones -140
- Anthony Richardson EVEN
Is Jones simply a stop-gap in case Richardson’s problems continue, or is he potentially a long-term replacement for the Colts? Last season’s benching of Richardson was allegedly an attempt by the coaching staff to remind him of the consequences of poor play.
The question now is whether the signing of Jones is another attention-getting measure or a sign that Richardson’s days are numbered in Indy.
