NFL Betting Preview For The First Round Of The Playoffs

This Saturday, the Wild Card round of the 2024-25 NFL Playoffs begins with its first of sixth postseason matchups. The Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions are the number one seeds and have the week off to rest up.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Houston Texans

  • Point Spread: Chargers -3.0 (EVEN), Texans +3.0 (-120)
  • Winner: Chargers -160, Texans +135
  • Over: 42.5 (-115)
  • Under: 42.5 (-105)

LA head coach Jim Harbaugh has his team playing lights out football and riding a three-game winning streak into the postseason. Houston has taken a slight step back during C.J. Stroud’s sophomore season, but they still have enough firepower to win the AFC South division.

The Chargers are three-point favorites on the road, but we suspect the Texans will show up this Saturday.

Our Prediction: Texans Win

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

  • Point Spread: Steelers +10.0 (-115), Ravens -10.0 (-105)
  • Winner: Steelers +375, Ravens -525
  • Over: 43.5 (-105)
  • Under: 43.5 (-115)

Inner-divisional matchups are always tough to call, no matter what time of season it is. This game is sure to be a slobber-knocker, but the point spread is unusually large for a pairing of two teams that split the series during the regular season.

Our Prediction: Ravens Win But Steelers Cover

Denver Broncos @ Buffalo Bills

  • Point Spread: Broncos +8.5 (-105), Bills -8.5 (-115)
  • Winner: Broncos +355, Bills -490
  • Over: 47.0 (-110)
  • Under: 47.0 (-110)

The Broncos were the final team to clinch a playoff spot in the AFC, even though they could’ve secured a postseason berth with a win during their final four games. Denver has overachieved in 2024-25, and are now ripe for the picking for a Bills team that is poised for a blowout.

Our Prediction: Bills Win And Cover

Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles

  • Point Spread: Packers +4.0 (-105), Eagles -4.0 (-115)
  • Winner: Packers +180, Eagles -220
  • Over: 45.5 (-110)
  • Under: 45.5 (-110)

The Eagles are the NFC East champions and have their sights set on a Super Bowl victory. The Packers are going to be a tough out, but Philadelphia rested their starters in Week 18 and should cruise past Green Bay into the division round of the playoffs.

Our Prediction: Eagles Win And Cover

Washington Commanders @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Point Spread: Commanders +3.0 (EVEN), Buccaneers -3.0 (-120)
  • Winner: Commanders +155, Buccaneers -180
  • Over: 50.0 (-110)
  • Under: 50.0 (-110)

The Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has brought the team immediate success with a Wild Card playoff berth in year one. They’ll travel to face a Tampa Bay team who struggled last weekend in a must-win game against the lowly New Orleans Saints.

DC is a 3-point dog on the road, but the Buccaneers’ 5-4 record at home should give the Commanders confidence heading into Sunday night.

Our Prediction: Commanders Win

Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Rams

  • Point Spread: Vikings -1.5 (-110), Rams +1.5 (-110)
  • Winner: Vikings -130, Rams EVEN
  • Over: 47.0 (-115)
  • Under: 47.0 (-105)

The odds for betting on the Minnesota Vikings suggest a close game against LA. The Rams managed to beat the Vikings 30-10 back in October, but are 1.5-point underdogs at home this Monday Night.

Our Prediction: Vikings Win And Cover
