Lynx vs. Liberty: Betting On The 2024 WNBA Finals

Steward of the Liberty and Collier of the Lynx battle for position

At 8 PM tonight, Game 1 of the 2024 WNBA Finals will tip off the closeout of arguably the league’s most successful season. The New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx are the final two teams standing.

The addition of the Indiana Fever’s Caitlan Clark to the WNBA has raised television ratings and elevated ticket sales nationwide. As such, these Finals are expected to be the most highly rated and attended in WNBA history.

Clark and the Fever made it to the WNBA Playoffs this season as the sixth seed but were swept 2-0 in the first round by the Connecticut Sun.

The increase in attention comes at just the right time, as the WNBA’s current television contract expires at the end of the 2025 season. They’ve already signed a deal with Disney/NBC/Universal for triple what they’re getting now.

WNBA Finals – Game 1 Betting Line

Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty

  • Spread: Lynx +6.5 (-105), Liberty -6.5 (-115)
  • Moneyline: Lynx +220, Liberty -270
  • Over: 159.0 (-110)
  • Under: 159.0 (-110)

The Liberty are favored by 6.5 at home tonight. Despite making it to the finals on three occasions, they’ve never won a WNBA championship. The Lynx have won four league titles, the last coming in 2017.

According to the latest WNBA prop bets, these are the projected top scorers for Game 1.

Minnesota Lynx

  • Napheesa Collier (MIN) – Over (20.5) -114, Under (20.5) -114
  • Courtney Williams (MIN) – Over (12.5) +112, Under (12.5) -145
  • Kayla McBride (MIN) – Over (13.5) +100, Under (13.5) -130
  • Bridget Carleton (MIN) – Over (10.5) -104, Under (10.5) -125

New York Liberty

  • Breanna Stewart (NYL) – Over (20.5) -118, Under (20.5) -110
  • Jonquel Jones (NYL) – Over (12.5) -130, Under (12.5) +100

Current finals series prices heavily favor the Liberty to capture their first championship, with NY getting an advantage of 325 points in the moneyline odds. Wagers of $1 placed on the Lynx to win the series will net payouts of $2.25 if they are the first to earn three victories.

WNBA Finals Series Prices

  • Minnesota Lynx +225
  • New York Liberty -310

The outlook for the league is incredibly positive at the moment. With that in mind, it is tempting to consider the WNBA’s future for next year and beyond. Online sportsbooks agree, and have produced odds for 2025’s Most Valuable Player for the regular season.

WNBA MVP Odds (2025 Regular Season)

  • A’ja Wilson (LVA) +195
  • Caitlin Clark (IND) +210
  • Breanna Stewart (NYL) +600
  • Napheesa Collier (MIN) +800
  • Sabrina Ionescu (NYL) +1900
  • Alyssa Thomas (CON) +2400

This, of course, fulfilled the purpose of placing Caitlan Clark on the odds boards. The Las Vegas Aces’ A’ja Wilson and Clark are listed as 1a and 1b, with the rest of the field hundreds of points behind them.

Wilson was the MVP in 2020, 2022, and 2024.
