The 2024 US Open Golf Tournament is now underway, with the first round beginning at 6:45 AM this morning. Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina is the host course of this year’s tourney.
Pinehurst is usually a 72-par course, but two holes have been reduced from five strokes to four, making 70 the score that separates golfers in the positive and negative.

The pretournament US Open golf odds heavily favored Scottie Scheffler. He finished second in last year’s Open and has captured one golf major in his young career.
Scheffler is the top-ranked PGA golfer on the planet, and his $24,024,552 in earnings on the tour this year are more than double the winnings of the player in second place (Xander Schauffele with $11,597,071).
The first round is happening now and can be seen on USA Network until 5 PM this evening. Online golf sportsbooks have Scheffler placed atop the round-one lines, and he doesn’t tee off until 1:14 PM this afternoon.
