President Joe Biden officially withdrew from the 2024 presidential election, spurring democratic nomination odds at legal online sportsbooks.
The historic decision not to seek a second term came after his disastrous debate with Donald Trump and pressure from his party to pass the torch. During the debate, Biden needed to complete sentences and sometimes seemed lost in his answers.
After the debate, Biden claimed he was tired and was suffering from a cold. He immediately continued the campaign trail and did a televised interview to address his age and other concerns following the debate. However, the interview did not turn the public opinion, and afterward, the push to get him off the ticket heated up.
Following Biden’s letter to his fellow Americans, he fully endorsed his vice President, Kamala Harris, as the Democratic nominee. However, no candidate will be awarded the nomination until the Democratic Convention in August, and other names are already being discussed.
The 2024 Democratic Nomination: A Question Mark?
It is not a sure thing, but with a growing list of supporters and Biden’s full endorsement, it will be hard to choose anyone else other than Kamala Harris. Harris is well qualified for the job, given her experience as a Senator (CA) and Vice President under the Biden Administration.
In a press release, Kamala said she fought to earn the nomination and defeat Trump in November.
If she were to become President, she would be the first woman, black woman, and Asian woman elected President. Since announcing her intention to earn the Democratic nomination, many of her colleagues have formally endorsed her in an attempt to speed up the nomination process.
