Wyoming Sports Betting
A promising piece of legislation is making its way through the Wyoming State Legislature and has now been sent over to the Senate for consideration following debate in the House of Representatives.
Legal sports betting in Wyoming appears on track to become a reality with some pundits estimating a rollout date of summer of 2021.
While that may be an unrealistic expectation, much of the regulation has already been included in the contents of the bill and could place WY on the fast track for domestic 18+ sports betting soon.
The use of cryptocurrency and Bitcoin for sportsbook deposits is still a part of the language, so BTC bettors will be paying close attention as the Senate debates sports betting further.
Connecticut Sports Betting
CT is one of the few states in the USA that took the extra measure of forbidding all online gaming. It seems as if their positioning on the matter is softening, as four sports betting bills have been introduced that intend to allow for a plethora of gambling options across a variety of mediums.
In SB 570, CT lawmakers have their sights set on erecting a “tribal resort-casino” that would also include a domestic book for sports betting in Bridgeport. The bill also establishes lawful Internet gaming and Internet lottery in Connecticut.
Senate Bill 146, authorizes online casino gaming in Connecticut, including poker, keno, blackjack, slots, and other popular table games.
The House of Representatives also has two bills currently in committee. HB 6451, if passed, will establish gaming agreements with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and the Mohegan Tribe of Indians of Connecticut.
Gaming services will be allowable “both on and off of tribal lands,” indicating that either mobile sportsbook applications or online sports betting services will be included with their casino gaming and online keno.
Included in the options for legal sports betting in CT are eSports, and Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS), but HB 16976 states that the minimum age to bet on sports in Connecticut will be 21 years old.
They’re not playing around either, as there is also a provision that forbids sportsbook advertisers from depicting anyone under the age of 21 placing a bet on sports. CT-based sportsbooks will need to cast actors with wrinkles and grey hair in their commercials just to be sure.
There is also standard language that we’ve seen included in sports betting legislation from other states, such as prohibitions on members of a sports betting governing body in the state of CT from participating in wagering on the sports.
No players, coaches, team staff, or their close friends and relatives that are involved in a particular game or contest may bet on that sport or league.
This bill also excludes horse racing, high school sports, and eSports from the list of legal sports betting options in Connecticut, however, the latter has been given the green light in the Senate bill language.
