With the 2026 season kickoff approaching on March 27th, the landscape of spring football has been completely transformed by expansion teams and radical scoring rules. Navigating the world of online UFL betting requires a sharp eye for value, especially as oddsmakers adjust to a league that now rewards 60-yard field goals and fourth-down aggression.

The UFL landscape has shifted dramatically for 2026. While the Birmingham Stallions dominated the early spring era with three consecutive titles (2022–2024), the DC Defenders enter this season as the defending champions after a record-breaking 58–34 victory over Michigan in the 2025 Finals.

All eight UFL teams now have futures odds on their chances of winning it all, and there is considerable room for line shopping among the books offering odds. Check out our SportsBetting.Legal guide to shopping the odds for the best strategies to get the highest payout possible.

Why the Stallions Are Rated High

Despite falling short in 2025, Birmingham remains the +340 favorite due to a “new era” rebuild in a “new era.” They’ve replaced legendary coach Skip Holtz with A.J. McCarron, a move that pairs a championship-winning quarterback’s mind with an elite roster.

The Stallions secured high-end talent in the 2026 redraft, including QB Matt Corral and former NFL speedster John Ross. Their high rating is a nod to their “dynasty” infrastructure and the league’s most explosive offensive depth chart.

A 2026 Underdog Recommendation: St. Louis Battlehawks (+650)

While the expansion Columbus Aviators are tempting, the St. Louis Battlehawks have a moneyline of +650 (MyBookie/Bovada) and possess the best “calculated risk” value. While Birmingham and Dallas are breaking in new head coaches, St. Louis promoted Ricky Proehl, ensuring a smooth transition of the league’s most passionate culture.

The 2026 Championship will be played in St. Louis, which is a major advantage for the Battlehawks should they reach the big game. They have also retained key backfield weapons like Jarveon Howard, providing a level of chemistry that the expansion teams and the revamped Stallions will lack in the early weeks.

New UFL Teams For 2026

For 2026, the UFL has replaced three underperforming markets with cities boasting deep football roots and intimate soccer-specific stadiums. While these teams are technically new, they inherited the foundational rosters of the folded Michigan Panthers, Memphis Showboats, and San Antonio Brahmas.

  • Columbus Aviators: Playing at Historic Crew Stadium, the Aviators are led by NFL veteran Ted Ginn Jr. in his coaching debut. They inherited the Michigan Panthers’ core and are leaning into a “speed-first” identity.
  • Louisville Kings: Based at Lynn Family Stadium, the Kings are coached by local legend and former NFL QB Chris Redman. Their roster features high-profile names like RB Benny Snell and WR Jonathan Adams.
  • Orlando Storm: Taking over the San Antonio Brahmas’ roster, the Storm moved into Inter&Co Stadium. They are led by Anthony Becht, who moved from St. Louis to be closer to home, bringing a proven winning culture to Florida.

New UFL Rules For This Season

This season also introduces radical “laboratory” rules designed to increase scoring and discourage conservative play-calling.

  • The 4-Point Field Goal: To reward high-risk distance kicking, any successful field goal from 60 yards or further is now worth four points.
  • Dynamic Kickoff Evolution: The kickoff remains “dynamic,” but the setup has shifted. The kicking team now lines up at the receiving team’s 45-yard line (moving 5 yards closer), while the receiving team must place at least nine players between their own 35 and 40.
  • Punishing Touchbacks: If a kickoff is kicked into the end zone without touching the ground, the ball is placed at the 40-yard line, which strongly incentivizes kickers to hit the “landing zone.”
  • Punt Ban: Teams are prohibited from punting once they cross the 50-yard line (except in the final two minutes of each half), forcing fourth-down attempts or long field goals.
  • Other Changes: The league officially banned the “Tush Push” sneak, adopted the one-foot in-bounds catch rule from college, and reintroduced the 1-point kicked extra point (from 33 yards).
